End-user licence.
Last updated 27 September 2026
This is the licence for Stoic Player. Buying Stoic gets you this licence, not ownership of the software. Read it alongside the Terms.
What you’re licensed to do
- Activate Stoic with your licence key on up to three Macs at a time that you own or control. Deactivating a Mac in Stoic’s Settings frees its place for another.
- Use it to play video and audio you have the right to access, at home or at work.
- Install every Stoic update we release.
What this licence doesn’t allow
- Sharing, selling or publishing your licence key, or activating it for other people.
- Redistributing Stoic, in original or modified form.
- Bypassing or tampering with licence activation, or reverse-engineering Stoic to build a competing product, except where the law or an open-source licence below allows it.
Open-source components
Stoic dynamically links an LGPL-licensed build of FFmpeg (version 2.1 or later, built without GPL or non-free components) and includes other open-source components under their own licences; their licence texts ship inside the app. This licence doesn’t override any of those. In particular, you may replace or modify the bundled FFmpeg libraries and relink them with Stoic, and nothing in this licence prohibits the reverse engineering needed to debug such modifications.
Warranty and liability
Stoic is provided “as is,” and our liability is limited as described in the Terms, without affecting rights under consumer law that can’t be excluded.
Ending this licence
The licence lasts as long as you use Stoic. It ends if the purchase is refunded or charged back, or if you break the terms above; Stoic then deactivates on your Macs. Your library and your files are never touched.
